Moz Pro Review (2026): Pricing, Limits & Who It Fits

The bottom lineReviews · SEO tools

Moz Pro is the classic SEO suite — keyword research, link data, rank tracking, and the Domain Authority score — and it's still a sound buy for small businesses that want one dashboard in 2026. Pricing runs from $49/month for the entry single-site plan to $299/month for Large, with Standard at $99/month ($79/month paid yearly), per Moz's pricing page. The catch most buyers miss: the free trial is now 7 days, not the 30 days Moz was historically known for, and Moz gives no refunds of any kind. For Boise storefronts, Moz Local is a separate product starting at $20/month per location.

What Moz Pro Is: The Classic SEO Suite in 2026

Moz Pro is the all-in-one SEO suite the industry grew up on: keyword research, link analysis, site crawls, rank tracking, and the Domain Authority score everyone quotes. Founded as SEOmoz by Rand Fishkin and Gillian Muessig in 2004, Moz has been part of Ziff Davis since 2021.

What the subscription covers, per Moz's own product pages:

  • Keyword Explorer, with 1.25 billion keyword suggestions (Moz's own figure).
  • Link Explorer, with 44.8 trillion links indexed (again, Moz's number).
  • Rank tracking across what Moz describes as 170+ search engines.
  • AI-search tracking: visibility dashboards and tracked prompts across GPT and Gemini, with Google AI Mode added on the two upper tiers.
  • MozBar Premium, the upgraded Chrome extension, plus 24/7 support on every plan.

One caveat belongs up front. Domain Authority is a Moz-invented score on a 1-to-100 scale, and Moz's own learning center says plainly that it "is not a Google ranking factor and has no effect on the SERPs." It's useful shorthand for sizing up competitors — new sites always start at 1 — but it is not a grade Google hands out.

Moz Pro Pricing in 2026: The Numbers and the Catch

Moz Pro publishes three main tiers plus a quieter entry plan, per its pricing page:

  • Standard: $99/month, or $79/month paid yearly ($950 billed for the first year).
  • Medium: $179/month, or $143/month paid yearly ($1,719 first year). Moz marks it "Most Popular," and it is the only tier with a free-trial link.
  • Large: $299/month, or $239/month paid yearly ($2,868 first year).
  • Entry plan: $49/month, described by Moz as "designed specifically for individuals managing a single website."

The discount Moz commits to in its pricing FAQ is 20% off the base plan for paying yearly. When we checked in August 2026, the site also ran a banner reading "Last chance to save up to 40% - ends today!" — the same ends-today banner on back-to-back days, so treat it as recurring marketing rather than a deadline. The durable number is the 20%.

Extra user seats are $49/month on any plan, and overages are sold as add-ons: $20/month per additional 200 keywords and $10/month per additional 10,000 keyword queries, among others. Moz also sells STAT, its enterprise rank tracker, which Moz's comparison page lists starting at $720/month.

Moz Pro Plan Limits: Side by Side

The tier you pick sets hard research quotas. These are the published limits from Moz's pricing cards, with crawl quotas stated per month as the cards give them:

PlanMonthlyYearlyUsersTracked sitesTracked keywords/moKeyword queries/moPages crawled/mo
Standard$99$7913300150400K
Medium$179$1432101,5005,0002M
Large$299$2393253,00015,0005M

The number that bites first is keyword queries. Standard's 150 per month is a hard research ceiling — one serious afternoon of keyword digging can spend it — against 5,000 on Medium. Moz's plan-details table is footnoted "Overages not included," so heavy months mean add-on fees or an upgrade.

The Free Trial and Refund Fine Print

Moz built its name partly on a famously generous 30-day trial. The trial sold today is 7 days — the checkout page says "Free for 7-days!" and the product comparison page says "Try free for 7 days." The rest of the fine print, from Moz's own Help Hub:

  • It exists only on the Medium monthly plan ($179/month). No trial for Standard, Large, or yearly billing.
  • A valid credit card is required, with an authorization charge of up to $1 that is instantly voided. One trial per customer.
  • It auto-renews as a paid subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends or the card is charged; Moz emails a reminder 1 day before.
  • Buying any add-on during the trial ends it and bills you immediately.

The refund policy is absolute: "Moz does not offer refunds of any kind per our Terms of Use." Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period — cancel on the renewal day itself and the charge still processes. There is no pause option either. Moz keeps your historical ranking and link data forever, but you lose access to reports once you cancel, so export your data first.

Moz Local: The Separate Product Boise Businesses Ask About

Moz Local is the piece most relevant to a Treasure Valley storefront, and it is its own product with its own bill — Moz's pricing FAQ calls it "a separate product from Moz Pro." It manages your business listings across 90+ directories, monitors reviews, and tracks local map-pack rankings.

Per-location pricing, from Moz Local's pricing page:

  • Lite: $20/month, or $16/month billed yearly ($199/year). Listings, review monitoring, Local Grid map-pack rankings.
  • Preferred: $30/month, or $24/month yearly ($299/year). Adds review responding, sentiment analysis, and social posting to Google and Facebook.
  • Elite: $40/month, or $33/month yearly ($399/year). Adds Listings AI plus posting to Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

Three catches. Every physical location needs its own subscription, so a three-location operation pays three times. Review responding starts at Preferred — Lite only monitors. And the Reviews AI add-on ($10/month) is not available on Lite at all. Listings management covers the US, UK, and Canada, which handles Boise fine.

The pitch numbers Moz uses — 97% of people learn about a local business online, 73% of Google search results contain a local feature — are Moz's own marketing statistics, not independent research.

Who Should Buy Which Moz Plan and Who Should Skip It

Buy the $49/month entry plan if you're an individual managing a single website and want Moz's core data at the lowest cost.

Buy Standard ($99/month, $79/month yearly) if you run one small site and can live inside 150 keyword queries a month. You get 3 tracked sites and 300 tracked keywords — the basics, with a low ceiling.

Buy Medium ($179/month, $143/month yearly) if keyword research is a weekly habit. The 5,000-query allowance makes it the real working tier, and it is the only plan you can trial before paying.

Buy Large ($299/month, $239/month yearly) if you're an agency or multi-brand operation tracking up to 25 sites.

Buy Moz Local alone (from $16/month per location, paid yearly) if you're a Boise shop that only needs listings, reviews, and map-pack tracking handled. You don't need the Pro suite for that job.

Skip Moz if refund flexibility matters — Moz gives no refunds of any kind — or if you only want an occasional Domain Authority check, since a free Moz Community account gets you free-tool access without a subscription. And keep DA in perspective: it's Moz's yardstick for comparing sites, not something Google uses to rank you.

What buyers ask before they pay

How much does Moz Pro cost in 2026?

Moz Pro's entry plan is $49/month for a single website. The main tiers are Standard at $99/month ($79/month paid yearly), Medium at $179/month ($143/month yearly), and Large at $299/month ($239/month yearly), per Moz's pricing page. Paying yearly is a standing 20% discount on the base plan.

Does Moz Pro have a free trial?

Yes, but it is 7 days and only on the Medium monthly plan ($179/month), per Moz's Help Hub. A credit card is required, the trial auto-renews as a paid subscription, and you must cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the charge. Moz no longer offers the 30-day trial it was historically known for.

Is Domain Authority a Google ranking factor?

No. Moz's own learning center states that Domain Authority "is not a Google ranking factor and has no effect on the SERPs." It is a Moz-developed score on a 1-to-100 scale for comparing sites, and new websites always start at a Domain Authority of 1.

What's the difference between Moz Pro and Moz Local?

They are separate products with separate bills, per Moz's own pricing FAQ. Moz Pro ($49–$299/month) is the SEO research suite: keywords, links, rank tracking, site crawls. Moz Local (from $16/month per location on yearly billing) manages a physical location's business listings, reviews, and local rankings — and every additional location needs its own subscription.

How much does Moz Local cost for a Boise business?

Lite is $20/month ($16/month billed yearly), Preferred is $30/month ($24/month yearly), and Elite is $40/month ($33/month yearly) — per location, per Moz Local's pricing page. A single-storefront shop that only needs listings and review monitoring can run Lite alone. Review responding requires Preferred, and the Reviews AI add-on ($10/month) is not offered on Lite.

Can I get a refund from Moz?

No. Moz's stated policy is "Moz does not offer refunds of any kind per our Terms of Use." Cancelling stops the next renewal but takes effect at the end of the billing period — cancelling on the renewal day itself still triggers the charge. There is no pause option, and you lose access to your reports after cancelling, so export your data first.

Is Moz's save-up-to-40% banner a real deadline?

Treat it as recurring marketing. When we checked in August 2026, moz.com displayed "Last chance to save up to 40% - ends today!" — the same ends-today banner on consecutive days. The discount Moz actually commits to in its pricing FAQ is 20% off the Moz Pro base plan for paying yearly.
